South Africa has groomed one of the best designers there are in the world, which clearly shows that we are not too far behind in terms of keeping up with the forever changing and improving fashion trends.
Both males and females operate in the fashion world these days, from dresses to shoes, suites to jeans; at this point I believe we can do it all.
Famous names and brands from South Africa, namely, David Tlale, Enhle Mbali and young designer Rich Mnisi.
Enhle Mbali Maphumulo, is a South African designer, renowned for her creativity and talent in making amazing dresses. Most recently she made a beautiful dress in collaboration with the designer duo.
Quiteria and George for the world class, Beyoncé Knowles during the Global Citizen Festival, last December.
Then there is a young yet well established designer and brand, Rich Fumani Mnisi, who has caught the attention of many high profile media editorials.
Such as GQ, Vogue, and international media, BBC. Only founded in 2015, has and is still going to reach greater heights.
Fashion designers in SA have really stepped up to the table, and have shown that they are more than capable. That is why they can compete on the world stage, and show how good we are, even as an African continent. As most of the designs, patterns and texture resemble our culture and heritage.

Those three years in varsity felt like three minutes in a queue—I’m finally a graduate, Mhlengi Thabethe (Mr Editor), once a practicing journalist student. In actual fact, I'm still aspiring to become more than just a benchmark journalist, no offence. I see myself, (in the next few years) as a CEO of a renowned and famous fashion or hip hop magazine, like Hype & GQ or (wow! God-willing) Vogue magazine. I'm so into fashion (all aspects of fashion not just men's fashion), all round fashion, from classy to what we call today, drip. Some of my OG’s refer to this as “swag”. And that exactly is what my blog is about; I'm talking about the style, the combos, the textures, the fabrics - the works!
In SA, we just have our own distinct sense of style and taste when it comes to fashion and design. That is why we have emerged as one the rising stars in the fashion industry world, the renowned likes of David Tlale, Enhle Mbali and Linda Gale, and those are all designers. Now the stage has been graced by the so talented names such as Rich Mnisi, Thebe Magugu and Laduma Ngxokola. I am heavily influenced by fashion icons like Riky Rick, Okmalumkoolkat, Speedsta and Scoop Makhathini, also others gifted people like Stilo, Sanele, Solo, Lenzo, Haaiku, & more (I swear there’s loads more x just can’t name them all!) all those people I have just mentioned are one of the top contemporary fashion gurus within Mzansi (mainly Jo’burg).
This blog is just here to highlight the advancement and creativity there is in SA fashion, in terms of the standard as well. Since we are able to showcase what we have on the world stage, or should I say the famous European stage.
As local as possible to as global as possible—we’ve got it all.
